What is Stigma?

Stigma is a Greek word referring to a mark or tattoo burned onto the skin of criminals, slaves, or traitors to visibly identify them as accused or morally polluted. These people were to be avoided, particularly in public places. Stigmatization is a process that marks a person or a group of people. The stigmatized are socially rejected because they have broken a law or a social norm. They are seen as deviants.
What are PTSD?
Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a psychiatric disorder that may occur in people who have experienced or witnessed a traumatic event such as a natural disaster, a serious accident, a terrorist act, war/combat, or rape or who have been threatened with death, sexual violence or serious injury.
